FAQs Regarding Treatment
I am scared about this procedure. Is that common?
The vast majority of our first time clients are very nervous about their first session. We believe it's very natural to fear the unknown. To help our clients feel more at ease, we go through a detailed explanation of the procedure at the beginning of your first visit. Our clients often report that we make them feel comfortable by taking plenty of time to answer any questions or concerns they may have.
How many sessions do I need?
That's a tough one to answer. The process of detoxification and reconditioning the bowel is unique for each person. Often, our patients come in for treatments on a weekly or bimonthly basis for a recommended period of time before dropping back to a maintenance program of quarterly or semi-annual treatments.
I'm not constipated. Why do I need colon hydrotherapy?
In a perfect world where everyone is eliminating several times a day and there are minimal sources of toxic exposure, the colon should be able to handle detoxification on its own. Unfortunately, we are exposed to many more toxins than our body is able to process. Many anti-aging theories center around detoxification as the solution to slow disease processes such as cancer and heart disease.
Do I need to take supplements while doing colon hydrotherapy?
Probably. There are certain supplements that complement the process of colon hydrotherapy, and most individuals require supplementation to achieve optimal colon health. We almost always recommend a good fiber and probiotic, and offer only effective, physician-only products our clients.
Supplementation is very necessary for those with constipation. It is ideal to have had a bowel movement within 24 hours of a treatment, and for those who do not have regular bowel movements, certain supplements are used to facilitate them.
Does colon hydrotherapy hurt?
The colon hydrotherapy treatment itself should never be painful. Individuals with high levels of gas may experience mild cramping during a treatment, and it is not unusual for individuals with high levels of toxins to experience flu-like symptoms of detoxification following the treatment.
What are the benefits of colonics?
Colon hydrotherapy removes accumulated waste, fungus, parasites and toxins from the colon, helps prevent constipation and encourages regular bowel movements, facilitates the absorbtion of water and nutrients, prevents the growth of bacteria and yeast, and improves overall health and wellness.
Is there anyone who should NOT get a colonic?
Individuals with diverticulitis, ulcerative colitis, Crohn's disease, severe hemorrhoids, heart disease, severe anemia, abdominal hernia, gastrointestinal cancer, and intestinal tumors, and those who have had recent surgery, should not undergo colon hydrotherapy without the consent of a physician. Additionally, women who are in the first and third trimester of a pregnancy should not have a colonic as it may stimulate uterine contractions.
